Lost In The Jungle

Lost In The Jungle

It was a beautiful sunny morning and my brother Toby and I were going to the UK to visit our Grandma. Mum and dad couldn’t come with us but since I was 16 they let me and Toby go on our own. Me and Toby got a taxi to the airport where we board the plane. Since Toby was only six he was excited to see all the big planes. Toby and I were the only ones on the plane and we thought that we were the only ones that were going to be going on that flight. But then a group of 30 kids that got on the plane with a couple of adults. The kids were my age as well. They were going on a school camp. I've never been to a school camp before because our school can't afford to send us on one. We heard screaming, everyone on the plane froze and looked at each other in confusion. Next minute the plane was dropping and people were screaming. The plane hit the ground with a thud...

Not many people survived the plane crash that day. Most people were dead. I was the only one that was still awake. I had a massive headache tho and I had cuts all over my face and arms. I looked at Toby he had fainted and he had cuts all over his body. He had more cuts than me because he was sitting next to the window and the window smashed. I grabbed Toby and went through the exit of the plane. Everything was silent. I could faintly hear breathing but I didn't take much notice of it. When we got through the door I layed Toby down on a grass patch while I had a look around. We were in the middle of a jungle. I could hear water running and birds singing. It was very peaceful. I could hear someone crying and I turned to where I had put Toby down. He was awake. I ran over to him and asked him what was wrong. He said “where are we and why do I have all of these cuts on my body that are hurting really badly.” “The plane crashed and because you were sitting next to the window it smashed so you got cut by the glass”. Toby started crying. I hugged him so he would feel better. I could hear voices. I looked towards the plane and there were three kids my age standing by the plane. “Hello,” I said. “Hello, my name's Ashley, this is Hannah and this is Ryan.” “My name is Bree and this is my little brother Toby.” I said. We were talking for an hour waiting to see if anyone else on the plane was still alive but no one was alive.

We slept on the big grass patch. It wasn’t very comfortable but it was the only place there was to sleep. Ryan woke up first and he went onto the plane to see if anyone was alive yet but no one was. He found a piece of paper in his bag and a pen and he wrote a note. That said “If anyone sees this note, we were all in a plane crash me and four other people survived and we have gone to find our way out of this jungle when we get out we will make sure that we tell the police so they can come get everyone of the plane and if you survive make sure you stay near the plane so the police can find you also try to wake the others up and see if any of them survived.” Ryan woke us all up. Ryan, Ashley and Hannah had their school lunches so they shared them with me and Toby. We started the hike to safety.

It felt like we had been walking for ages. I looked at my watch and it had been hours that we had been walking for. Toby packed a little tantrum so Ryan was kind enough to let him on his back. Ashley Hannah and I were just talking the whole time and getting to know each other better. In the distance I saw a person wearing a black jacket and black jeans. Toby got scared and jumped off Ryan's back and came over to me. Ryan went over to the guy to see if he could help us. He was a really nice person. He came over to all of us to see if we were all ok. He said that he had a campsite not far from where we were. He asked us if we wanted to go stay at his campsite for the night since it was dark. We said yes and we followed him to the campsite on the way he was telling us about some of his adventures in the jungle. We got to the campsite and there were heaps of people there. The guy told us that his name was Michael and that he would get ahold of someone to come pick us up in the morning. Michael had a spare tent laying around so we all slept in the tent.

I was the first person awake and I just layed down for a little bit until someone else woke up. Toby was the next person awake so I took him outside to have a run around on the grass because he was full of energy. The others woke up one by one and came and sat down on the grass that had been freshly cut. Then Michael came out of his cabin “how are we all today did everyone sleep well” everyone answered. Then he made Ashley, Hannah, Ryan, Toby and I breakfast he brung it out to us and we ate as he was telling us more about his life and the adventures he has been on. He all of a sudden got a phone call and rushed off to answer it. He came back 20 minutes later. “That was the helicopter company they are coming to get youse all soon so I would get ready if I was you.” We all packed our bags and then we took Toby to the grass patch so he could have a run around before we went on the helicopter ride home.

We were sitting around the campfire eating lunch when the helicopter turned up. Michael made them a cup of coffee and offered them some cake. After an hour we were in the helicopter on our way home. When we got home our parents all came to the police station. We all met outside while we waited for the police to come out and talk to us. The police came out and asked us if we would go with them to show them where the plane was so the next day we all got up nice and early to go to find the plane. The police had brought us Burger King for lunch and then we got on the police helicopter and went to find the plane. We found the plane and there were three people sitting outside the plane talking. The police called in some more helicopters to help take the plane back; they also called the ambulance helicopter to see if they could help any of the other people to survive. The helicopters all turned up and did their job and went back to the police station. We all went back to our own houses.

Five years later we all went to the same Burger King that the police had taken us to to have a catch up. Last summer Toby and I went to Ashley’s house for a month and Ryan and Hannah were there as well. We all are still great friends and we see each other all the time. All of our parents are friends as well so once a month we all go to stay at Ashley’s beach house. This month we are going to Hawaii because it was a month ago today that we all met.

My Lockdown Experience

My Lockdown Experience

The day I found out we were gonna be going into lockdown in 2 days I cried. I was so stressed and nervous for what was going to happen. I was also worried about my 13th birthday party because I was so excited to celebrate my birthday with the people that I loved and cared about. I enjoyed the first week of lockdown because we didn’t have any school. We could just do whatever we wanted. I was sad that I couldn’t see all my friends and my family.

Lockdown was hard for me. I struggled a lot. I have anxiety and in stressful situations, I get really bad with it. I was doing good to start off with and then I got bad. I started to struggle to sleep and I was constantly feeling sick. When I was feeling sick I would wake up feeling sick and go to sleep feeling sick. I wasn’t eating properly either which made me feel even sicker. But I started to get a lot better and I was barely feeling sick anymore. Now we think that my feeling sick was because of my anxiety and we also think that I’m lactose tolerant. I’m on a diet where I’m not having any food with dairy in them. I have lactose free milk, cheese, ice cream and butter.

My birthday was in lockdown and I was sad because I couldn't have a party. But because we were in level 3 we could have a few people over. So my Nana, Grandad and great Nana came in for lunch and we also had a couple other people over. I got a new phone for my birthday and I was so excited. I got a bunch of stickers for my bullet journal, I got some flowers, a blanket led lights and chocolate from some of my friends. I also got a bit of money. I enjoyed my birthday with my family.

I’m so glad that we are out of lockdown. I was really nervous on the first day of school because no one knew what was happening and how different things would be. When I and my brother Jimmy got to school the staff members had made a photo frame thing that was at the school gate entrance. We all got a photo taken there. Some people didn’t like the idea but I thought it was a good idea because it reminded kids that the teachers will be there for us if we need them. We have to sanitize our hands four times a day at school and we have to social distance ourselves from others. Our desks are all separated so we are not touching anyone or in their personal bubble.

CAPTAIN CALM

Here Is The Cartoon Copy Of What He Looks Like

Captain Calm saves the world from COVID 19.
“Captain Calm told us that from what she knows that COVID 19 is a normal person that was given powers to give people a deadly virus.” “COVID didn’t want to give people the virus but there was a criminal that was forcing him to give people the virus.” “Captain Calms powers are calming people down so as soon as someone was diagnosed with the virus she went straight to their house to calm them down.”Captain Calm caught COVID when she was calming someone down at their house and COVID knew that she was there so he broke in and when she found him he asked her to help him.” “Covid needed help because the virus was starting to hurt him and he didn’t like giving people the virus so he asked Captain Calm to go with him and see the criminal and call the cops on him.” The criminal is now in jail and is going to be for a little while.” Covid is doing well. He's in hospital at the moment trying to get the virus off of him because the criminal gave him an illegal surgery and put the virus in him so he could give it to others.” Captain Calm told us that COVID is not a criminal and that she goes up to the hospital to see him everyday and they have become friends and Captain Calm and COVID have decided that COVID will be Captain Calm’s side kick so we will be seeing him a lot. Since in the past COVID was giving people the virus he will be able to cure every deadly sickness but he won't be curing colds. They haven't figured out a name for him yet.

Thoughts On Lockdown
On the day that we found out that we would be going into lockdown in three days was a scary day. We decided that with everyone being scared that we would interview people. Don’t worry these interviews were safely done by people in my bubble. I decided to interview people from different generations. The hardest thing for most people was not being able to see family members and friends that are outside of their bubble. Leah said “I’m most worried about not being able to pass NCEA level 3 because if I don’t pass then I might not be able to get a good job. I’m also worried about my St John's camps because I want to be a doctor when I'm older and the way to do that is to be in St Johns which I’m quiet high in but I need to go to the camps to be able to get badges which make me get even higher in st Johns.” Grandad said “I have enjoyed the peace and quiet and I've enjoyed being able to walk around my property.” My family has been video calling every couple of days and we have all enjoyed the calls. We sit there for hours and we just talk. Mum is relieved that she has her kids and husband with her and my parents can keep us kids safe. Everyone wanted to be able to see all their friends and family again. We are so lucky to be out of lockdown but we all need to remember to wash our hands and social distance otherwise we could be in lockdown again very soon.
